Kelly Earns 3rd MEAC Rookie of the Week Honor

NORFOLK, Va. – In the last weekly honors of the regular season, freshman guard C.J. Kelly of the Norfolk State men's basketball team earned the MEAC Rookie of the Week award from the conference office.
 
Kelly took home his third such accolade after scoring 11 points in NSU's 74-66 win at Delaware State on Monday night. He shot 3-of-5 from the field, 2-of-4 from deep, and 3-of-4 from the free throw line. He added one rebound, one block and one steal. He also had a rebound on Saturday in the team's 72-38 win over Coppin State at home.
 
He tied his career high in 3-pointers against DSU while posting his fifth career 10-point game. Kelly, a native of Long Island, New York, was also named Rookie of the Week on Dec. 26 and Feb. 19.
 
On the year, he is averaging 4.7 points and 2.1 rebounds per game while shooting nearly 47 percent from the field.
 
NSU wraps up the regular season on Thursday night at 8 p.m. against Howard. It will also serve as Senior Night for the Spartans at Joseph Echols Hall.
