NORFOLK, Va. – Registration is now available for this summer's annual basketball camps hosted by the Norfolk State men's basketball program. Included in there is a camp for players ages 8-17 as well as for youth ages 4-10.
The
Robert Jones Green and Gold Basketball Camp for boys and girls ages 8-17 will take place from June 17-20. The camp for players ages 4-10 occurs from July 29-Aug. 1.
In addition, the NSU program will host a team camp as well as an elite camp, an exposure camp and a guard camp for individual players. The team camp will take place from Aug. 9-11, while the exposure camp (Aug. 3) and elite camp (Aug. 4) are set for the week before. The guard camp will occur on Aug. 18.
The Green and Gold camp in June will feature former NSU star and current Indiana Pacer
Kyle O'Quinn. The camp will run from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. each day inside Joseph Echols Hall on the Norfolk State campus.
Cost of the June camp with O'Quinn is $160. Cost of the late July camp for youth ages 4-10 is $75. That camp will also take place at Echols Hall but will run from 9 a.m.-noon each day.
Current and former Norfolk State players will provide instruction on fundamental basketball skills and overall player development while emphasizing having fun. Stations will focus on dribbling, ball-handling, shooting, rebounding and defensive techniques. There will also be contests and organized games between campers. Basic skill development will also be available.
T-shirts will be provided for each participant for both camps, while those participating in the June 17-20 camp must provide their own lunch each day.
The team camp will include lectures and demonstrations from the NSU coaching staff as well as instruction on strength and conditioning. It is open to teams with players entering grades 9-12. Cost of the team camp is $350 per team.
Cost of both the elite camp and the exposure camp is $50 each. They will include daily player clinics, instruction from the NSU coaching staff, breakdowns and speed and agility drills. Players will also receive a camp T-shirt and shorts.
The exposure camp is open to players entering grades 8-12 and will run from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. on Aug. 3. Players entering grades 10-12 are eligible for the elite camp set for Aug. 4.
The guard camp is open to players entering grades 6-12. Cost of the camp is also $50. The camp for players entering grades 6-8 will take place from 10 a.m.-2 p.m., while the camp for grades 9-12 will occur from 3-7 p.m.
A certified trainer will be on hand during all camps. Each camper must provide personal insurance coverage.
