GREENSBORO, N.C. – Kiara Grant posted a meet-record time of 11.07 seconds in the 100-meter dash prelims on Friday at the MEAC Outdoor Championships hosted by North Carolina A&T.

Grant won her heat and topped her previous best time of 11.18 seconds which she set last week at U.Va. She enters Saturday's finals as the top seed in a very competitive 100m dash field, and she will also compete in the 200m finals and with NSU's 4x100 meter relay team. Grant will be joined in the 100m final by fellow Spartan Tyrika Lee, who posted a time of 11.50 seconds Friday.

DaJah Parker-Love clocked a 100m PR of 11.56 seconds, but just missed out on qualifying for the event final.

Malika Pride also set a new PR on Friday, qualifying as the fourth-fastest runner in the 400 meters with a time of 54.55 seconds.

In other heats, two-time reigning MEAC outdoor 800m champion Martha Bissah was the fastest qualifier in her specialty with a time of 2:04.82.

The Spartans got points in a pair of events on Friday, and both came via freshmen. Fridah Koech was fifth in the 3,000m steeplechase, and Tiara Simms was sixth in the shot put with a top throw of 41 feet, 10.75 inches.

NSU is fourth in the women's team standings with 18 points entering the final day of competition. Florida A&M has 120.5, Bethune-Cookman has 75 and N.C. A&T has 51.5. The meet resumes at 9 a.m. Saturday.
