EARLYSVILLE, Va. – Martha Bissah paced the Spartan women's cross country with a 10
th-place finish on Saturday in NSU's season-opener, the Cavalier Classic hosted by the University of Virginia.
Bissah posted a 5,000-meter time of 17 minutes, 52.9 seconds as the Spartan women finished fifth in the team standings behind Tennessee, North Carolina, Virginia and Maryland.
Sophomore
Fridah Koech was the Spartans' next-highest finisher. She came in 32
nd place in 19:14.2. Senior Carolina Samoei finished 39
th in 19:49.3. Rounding out the NSU top five were freshman
Kara Grant in 41
st in 20:20.8 and
Ashah Koech in 46
th in 21:23.3.
The Spartans have a week off before returning to the same course for the Panorama Farms Invitational on Sept. 27.
