Rebecchini Joins NSU Men’s Tennis

| By:
NORFOLK, Va. – Norfolk State tennis head coach Mike Mucci announced today that Old Dominion transfer Federico Rebecchini has joined the Spartans men's program for the upcoming season. He arrived at NSU at the beginning of the fall semester after spending the last two seasons across town with the Monarchs.

"We are excited to have Federico join our program here at Norfolk State," said Mucci. "His juniors career was filled with high-level accomplishments, and his experience at ODU will help raise the level of the program."

Following the NCAA's decision to give all spring sport student-athletes an extra year of eligibility due to COVID-19, Rebecchini will have up to three years of eligibility with the Spartans.

A native of Italy, he earned five singles wins and seven doubles victories last year as a sophomore with ODU between the fall and spring before the season was cut short in March due to COVID-19. Included in there were doubles victories over Hampton and Morgan State, as well as a No. 5 singles win over HU in the spring. He played in six dual matches as a freshman in the spring of 2019, earning No. 4 singles and No. 2 doubles victories over South Carolina State.

Prior to joining ODU, Rebecchini twice made the quarterfinals of the Italian Junior Championships. He was ranked as high as No. 381 in the ITF (International Tennis Federation) junior rankings and No. 5 in his age group in his home country of Italy. He won a Grade 4 ITF doubles event and held a UTR of 12.99 prior to his collegiate career.

The Spartan men's program returns three players from last year's team and will add several more for the spring semester.
