CARY, N.C. – The Norfolk State men's tennis team received three All-MEAC postseason accolades on Wednesday evening, unveiled during the conference's annual awards ceremony.

Jakub Solarski, the 2024 MEAC Rookie of the Year, headlined the Spartan honorees with an All-MEAC First Team selection.
Frederick McRae and
Deniz Okyay landed on the All-MEAC Second Team, both earned postseason recognitions for the second straight year.

Solarski has led the way for the Spartans, going 15-5 in singles play across the No. 1 and No. 2 positions, with a 14-6 doubles record. The sophomore standout helped lead the Spartans to a pivotal road victory over Navy, defeating J.J. Etterbeek 7-5, 6-1 at the top spot in the lineup.

McRae went 16-7 in singles and 17-5 in doubles during the regular season, producing the most wins of any player on the Norfolk State roster. Holding a 4-1 record during conference play, he went undefeated in the MEAC Tennis Roundup at the No. 4 position.

Okyay has built off his spectacular freshman campaign with an outstanding sophomore season, accumulating a 15-5 record in singles across the No. 2, 3, and 4 positions. Providing consistent depth since the team's first match, one of Okyay's strongest moments came in the form of a 2-6, 6-1, 6-2 victory over William & Mary's Albert Hansen in the team's season opener.

Norfolk State begins the 2025 MEAC Tennis Championships on Thursday afternoon as the No. 3 seed, facing No. 6 seed Coppin State in the quarterfinals at 2 p.m. Every match of the tournament will take place at Cary Tennis Park.
