GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Norfolk State men took second through fifth places in the 10,000 meters Thursday on day 1 of the 2021 MEAC Outdoor Championships at North Carolina A&T, helping the Spartans out to an early lead in the team standings.
Meshack Kipchirchir was the MEAC 10K runner-up in 32:31.39, followed by
Isa Suleiman in 32:32.74.
Evans Cheruiyot took fourth (33:20.37) and
Lelei Too fifth (34:07.95), giving the Spartans 23 points in the team standings.
The only other competition Thursday was the heats of the 200 meters.
Trequan Barnes (21.36) and
Kai Cole (21.44) both finished in the top eight to advance to Saturday's event final.
Men's competition resumes at 10 a.m. Friday with the start of the decathlon.
