NORFOLK, Va. – The Norfolk State volleyball program announced its 2021 schedule today, highlighted by nine home contests and a 14-match MEAC schedule.
 
NSU will play all seven conference teams home and away while taking part in three early season non-conference tournaments. Home contests against Hampton in the Battle of the Bay and Regent University round out the 25-match schedule.
 
"The first part of our schedule will be very competitive and will give us an opportunity to go against quality teams early on," said head coach Kathy Bullock. "That will prepare us for MEAC play. We are very excited about our conference season this year. It will serve as our best opportunity yet to be successful."
 
Hampton on Aug. 31 at home marks the official start to the season. The teams will also play a scrimmage on Aug. 21 at HU before the official start of the season. NSU's only other non-conference home contest takes place on Sept. 7 against Regent.
 
Early season tournaments include stops at the Spartan-Aggie Tournament (Sept. 3-4) hosted by UNC Greensboro and North Carolina A&T, the Tiger Invitational (Sept. 10-11) held by Towson, and the Old Dominion Tournament from Sept. 17-18.
 
Home MEAC matches begin on Sept. 26 against Delaware State. Coppin State and Morgan State arrive at NSU on Oct. 8 and 10, respectively, while Maryland Eastern Shore comes to town on Oct. 22. The last three matches of the regular season also take place at home on Nov. 5 (South Carolina State), Nov. 7 (North Carolina Central) and Nov. 12 (Howard).
 
MEAC play begins on Sept. 24 at Maryland Eastern Shore. The Spartans make the trek to Howard and Delaware State on Oct. 1 and 3, respectively. They also have weekend trips to S.C. State and N.C. Central (Oct. 15 and 17) and to Coppin State and Morgan State (Oct. 29 and 31).
 
The league will not have divisions this season for volleyball. This year's MEAC Championship takes place on Nov. 19-21 at Howard.
