NORFOLK, Va. – Norfolk State senior guard
Camille Downs collected her third weekly MEAC honor of the season Tuesday when she was named the conference's Player of the Week.
Downs poured in a career-high 28 points on 11-of-18 shooting in Monday's 80-70 win at North Carolina Central. She added eight rebounds and three steals in just 22 minutes played. Downs also hit 4-of-6 from 3-point range in NSU's first game in three weeks.
Downs has picked up a weekly conference award in the last three weeks in which the Spartans have played. She was named MEAC Defensive Player of the Week for Dec. 14 and Co-Player of the Week for Dec. 21. The Fredericksburg native and UNCW transfer is second in the MEAC in scoring (13.5), fourth in steals (2.3) and 13
th in rebounding (5.8).
NSU is back in action Saturday at Howard.
