NORFOLK, Va. – The Norfolk State women's basketball team came in at No. 24 in the latest CollegeInsider.com Mid-Major Top 25 poll, the first time in program history it has made the ranking.
The recognition comes during a dominant start to the 2022-23 season for the Spartan women. Despite playing just two games at home thus far, NSU has amassed a 7-1 record through eight games, its lone loss coming at Penn State by six points. The Spartans have outscored opponents 567-386 in those eight contents.
With the NSU men's basketball team ranked No. 21 in the College Insider Men's Mid-Major Top 25 poll, Norfolk State is the first HBCU to have both the men's and women's teams in the polls at the same time.
The Norfolk State women look to continue their hot start tomorrow against Hampton at 6 p.m., the latest edition of the "Battle of the Bay" rivalry.
