NORFOLK, Va. – The Norfolk State women's track and field team swept the weekly MEAC awards Wednesday, as
Malika Pride won Track Athlete of the Week and
Arieana Parker was selected Field Athlete of the Week.
Pride clocked a personal-best 200-meter time of 23.74 seconds in winning the event last weekend at the second annual
Kenneth Giles Invitational. That time is the best in the MEAC this season.
Parker won the weight throw and shattered her own school record in the process with a top throw of 60 feet, 10 inches last weekend. That also ranks as the top mark in the conference this season.
This is the first award of the year for either Pride or Parker.
The Spartans next compete at the MEAC Indoor Championships Feb. 21-23 in Virginia Beach, Va.
