VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – The quartet of
Camren Wynder-Hill,
Kai Cole,
Trequan Barnes and
Regan Kimtai all brought home wins on Saturday to highlight another strong weekend for NSU men's track and field at the East Coast Invitational at the Virginia Beach Sports Center.
Wynder-Hill won the heptathlon with a personal record of 3,963 points. He placed first in four of the seven events in the competition.
Jahquan Christopher and
Joshua Sutton were second and third in the event, respectively.
Cole and
Anthony Franklin both posted times of 21.30 seconds in the 200 meters, which broke the previous facility record. Cole just edged out Franklin in a photo finish. The pair also ran well in the 60 meters, with Cole claiming second in 6.73 seconds and Franklin third in 6.79.
Barnes also set a facility record, winning the 400 in 47.58 seconds.
Dazon Harrison placed third in the event.
Kimtai, competing in his first meet as a Spartan, crossed the line first in the 800. He posted a time of 1:57.83.
Elsewhere on the track,
Meshack Kipchirchir,
Evans Cheruiyot and
Isa Suleiman took third through fifth places in the 3,000 meters.
NSU's top performances in the field came via
Joshua Peterson and
Kalon Jeffery. Peterson placed fourth in the long jump with a top effort of 23 feet, 6.25 inches. Jeffery cleared a season-best 11 feet, 3.75 inches in a runner-up pole vault finish.
The Spartans are back at the Virginia Beach Sports Center next Friday and Saturday for their own
Kenneth Giles Invitational.
