NORFOLK, Va. – Norfolk State's home baseball game with VCU Wednesday was postponed due to rain in the bottom of the fourth inning. No makeup date has been announced.
VCU was leading 7-5 when inclement weather and field conditions halted play. The Rams took a 7-4 lead in the fourth on a grand slam by Tyler Locklear. The Spartans, who scored in every inning, drew within 7-5 on an RBI groundout by
Malcolm Perry in the bottom of the fourth and had runners on second and third with one out when umpires called off the game.
Since fewer than five innings were played, it is not considered an official game and the stats do not count until or unless the game is resumed.
Korey Singh was 2-for-2 with an RBI single in the first and an RBI double in the third. Perry hit a two-run triple in his first at-bat in the second.
The Spartans host Coppin State for a four-game MEAC series Friday through Sunday at Marty L. Miller Field.
