NORFOLK, Va. – It only took
Aleksandra Evdokimova one season at Norfolk State to establish herself as one of the best players in the league. Evdokimova was named to the women's tennis All-MEAC second team, the conference announced on Tuesday.
Â
The Moscow, Russia native has made herself comfortable at the Division I level quite quickly, playing the No. 1 position in NSU's lineup for nearly all of the season. Evdokimova has amassed a 7-8 singles record, six of those wins coming at No. 1, and an 8-9 doubles record. She clinched NSU's third win of the season her last time out, defeating Hampton's Milena Amedieva in three sets to give the Spartans a dramatic 4-3 victory.
Â
The recognition comes on top of many in-season accolades the NSU freshman racked up this year. Evdokimova was named MEAC Women's Player of the Week back-to-back in March, earning Rookie of the Week honors once as well.
