Jacob Council and assistant athletics director for communications Matt
Michalec were recently recognized by the website Black College Nines with postseason baseball awards.
Council was selected to the Black College Nines
HBCU Elite second team, while
Michalec was named one of four winners of the
HBCU Sports Information Director of the Year award.
Council was a second-team All-MEAC selection and MEAC All-Tournament team pick this past season. He led NSU with a .346 batting average, good for third-best in the conference. Council also recorded 10 doubles, one triple, four home runs and 33 runs batted in. He ranked fourth in the MEAC in hits, fifth in slugging percentage, eighth in on-base percentage and 10
th in RBIs.
Michalec has led the NSU Sports Information Office since 2003 and has served as the baseball contact for 20 seasons. He oversees all media coverage, website and social media content for the Spartan baseball team. This is his fourth time winning the Black College Baseball SID of the Year award and second year in a row.
