NSU Football to Appear on ESPN Platforms 10 Times in 2022

| By:
NORFOLK, Va. – The Norfolk State football team will appear on ESPN platforms 10 times this upcoming season, including all five of its MEAC contests, the league announced on Friday.

The Spartans open the year with a pair of road non-conference games at Marshall (Sept. 3) and James Madison (Sept. 10), and both will be broadcast on ESPN3. NSU's home non-conference games with Hampton (Sept. 17) and St. Francis (Sept. 24) and the road matchup with North Carolina A&T (Nov. 5) will all be available on ESPN+.

In addition, all five of the Spartans' MEAC contests will also be carried, at minimum, on ESPN+. Dates with Morgan State (Oct. 8), Delaware State (Oct. 15) and Howard (Oct. 29) will all air on ESPN+.

The MEAC also has four "wildcard" weekends in its annual ESPN broadcast agreement, with the game having the most bearing on the league championship race during those weekends being flexed into a live ESPN3 and tape-delayed ESPNU production. The Spartans' games with North Carolina Central on Nov. 12 and South Carolina State on Nov. 19 fall on two of the wildcard weekends. Even if not chosen as the wildcard game, those two matchups would still air on ESPN+.

About the ESPN Platforms
ESPN3 is accessible on computers, smartphones, tablets and connected devices through the ESPN App. The network is currently available nationwide at no additional cost to fans who receive their high-speed Internet connection or video subscription from an affiliated service provider.

ESPN+ is the industry-leading sports streaming service that offers fans in the U.S. thousands of live sports events, original programming not available on ESPN's linear TV or digital networks and exclusive editorial content from dozens of ESPN writers and reporters. Launched in April 2018, ESPN+ has grown to more than 22.3 million subscribers. Fans sign up to ESPN+ for just $6.99 a month (or $69.99 per year) at ESPN.com, ESPNplus.com or on the ESPN App (mobile and connected devices). It is also available as part of The Disney Bundle that gives subscribers access to Disney+, ESPN+ and Hulu for $13.99/month (Hulu w/ads) or $19.99/month (Hulu w/o ads). Subscribers to Hulu + Live TV also receive ESPN+ at no additional cost.

The MEAC-ESPN agreement continues to add additional branding and exposure for the conference and its member institutions. The MEAC and ESPN have had a media rights agreement since 2005. The ESPN+ football contests add to an already impressive lineup, as ESPN carries multiple men's basketball and softball regular-season contests across ESPN networks. The MEAC volleyball and bowling championship finals are also televised on various ESPN platforms.
