NEW YORK, N.Y. – Norfolk State swept the podium in the mile run, the highlight performance for the Spartans at the KPMG HBCU Showcase at the Armory Track in New York, N.Y.

Gidion Sigei ran a personal best of 4:15.55 to take first place, while
Regan Kimtai followed closely behind in second at 4:20.93.
Brian Rotich rounded out the top-three with a 4:16.16 in his first mile competition of the season.

Kai Cole nabbed third place in the 200 meter dash, finishing in 21.95 seconds.

Jeremiah Zellander clocked a 49.94 in the 400 meters for fourth place, his first top-five individual finish of his sophomore campaign.

Rodric Cox-Cooper led the field athletes, finishing third in the triple jump with a distance of 47 feet, 1.75 inches and seventh in the long jump (22-3.75).
Joshua Sutton earned another top-five finish by clearing six-feet, six inches on the high jump.

The Spartans return to the track on Jan. 27 and Jan. 28 for a two-day Penn State National Open in University Park, Pa.
