LYNCHBURG, Va. – The Norfolk State women's tennis team concluded its fall slate by competing at the ITA DI Women's Atlantic Regional Championships at Liberty University over the weekend.
Seniors
Laura Ruiz and
Gabriela Davidescu represented the Spartans at the prestigious event, competing across multiple days amongst some of the top competition on the east coast.
Davidescu lost 6-3, 6-1 to the No. 1 seed of the qualifying bracket, Sia Chaudry of the U.S. Naval Academy, before dropping a thrilling match to George Washington's Madison Lee 5-7, 7-5, 10-7.
Ruiz was bested by West Virginia's Michaela Kucharova 6-0, 6-4 in the first round of the main draw, before falling 6-3, 6-2 to U.S. Naval Academy's Kate Lee the next day.
