GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Norfolk State men's tennis team completed their third competition of the fall season over the weekend, picking up two singles victories against Presbyterian.

The Spartans got off to a slow start, dropping a pair of Friday doubles matches against Queens, by scores of 7-5 and 6-4.

North Carolina Central nabbed several tight singles matches against NSU later that day. Kareem Abdul Hakim edged past
Jakub Solarski 5-7, 6-0, 1-0 (4), while Naresh Mithran Bharath outlasted McRae 6-2, 6-7 (5), 1-0 (6). Hugo Hadalgo Vega and Leo Fortier earned straight-set victories over
Deniz Okyay and
Boris Lunin, respectively.

The Spartans fared better on Saturday against Presbyterian. McRae and Lunin dropped straight-set matches, but Okyay defeated Pedro Cordoso 6-2, 6-0 to get NSU in the win column. Solarski took down Denim Yadov 6-4, 6-3, splitting the singles matches between the programs.

Norfolk State met with the talented Queens squad again on Sunday, this time for a group of singles matches. McRae was the lone Spartan to force a third set, falling 4-6, 6-1, 1-0 (7) to Arenui Leuthi at the No. 1 position.
