TOWSON, Md. – The Norfolk State bowling team got its 2023-24 season underway this weekend, competing in the first Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) meet of the year.

The Spartans won one match over the weekend, defeating Howard 850-792. All of the matches were five-game, total pinfall baker format.

Norfolk State was unable to win a match on Saturday, dropping bouts with Monmouth (850-808), North Carolina A&T (968-815), Delaware State (816-748), and Coppin State (881-850).

The Spartans fared better on the second day of competition, picking up the win against Howard. NSU started strong with an opening game of 191, posting a pair of 179 scores in the third and fifth games to clinch the victory.

Norfolk State dropped matches against UAB (878-803), Morgan State (855-756), and Maryland Eastern Shore (932-796) on Sunday.

The Spartans return to action next weekend in Baltimore, Md. for the Coppin State Invitational.
