BALTIMORE, Md. – The Norfolk State women's bowling team put together a dominant performance this weekend at the CSU Lady Eagles Invitational, finishing the tournament with a 7-1 overall win-loss record.

Norfolk State caught fire to start things off, going 5-0 on the first day of competition. The Spartans picked up five-person team total pinfall victories against Virginia State (710-529), Wagner (808-807), St. Anselm (792-742), Coppin State (845-714), and Molloy (829-777).

Kiersten Michel led the team during the first day of play, accumulating a total pinfall of 897, averaging 179.4 per game.
Jazmin Esquibel (798),
LaShauna Burrus (796), and
Jalaya Allen (795) followed closely behind.

Norfolk State went 1-1 during the baker total pinfall portion of the following afternoon. The Spartans dropped their first match of the day to Felician 905-860 but responded well against Fayetteville State. All tied up at 832-832 after five games, the Spartans won the tiebreaker 74-69.

The Spartans battled Fayetteville once again in the seventh-place match, this time in the baker match play format. Trailing 2-1, Norfolk State rallied to win three games to clinch the match.
