VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. | The Norfolk State University women's indoor track and field team prepared for next week's Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Indoor Track and Field Championships with several highlighted performances on Friday and Saturday at the Division II Indoor Track and Field Pre-Nationals, hosted by Norfolk State at the Virginia Beach Sports Center.
Indya Richards just missed the top spot in the 60m hurdles as she finished second, with a time of 8.59, while teammate
Brooklyn Robinson was sixth at 8.89.
In the 800m,
Tynniesia Wilson claimed the third spot in 2:24.78, while in the 3,000m,
Mercyline Kimaiyo finished second, with a time of 10:05.65.
Armani Harris placed eighth in the 400m, logging a time of 1:01.01.
Essence Shaw and
Shonte Seale finished sixth and seventh, respectively in the pentathlon. Shaw logges 2,483 points, while Seale was right behind her at 2,481 points.
Leslie Young won the shot put, registering an event-best 13.62, and placed second in the weight throw, registering a toss of 17.19m.
Robinson placed fifth in the high jump, recording a leap of 1.55m, while
De'Niya Gravely finished sixth in the triple jump, with a leap of 11.54m
D'Nsha Brightful and
Destiny Hooks were eighth and ninth in the pole vault at 2.95m and 2.80m, respectively.
Norfolk State concludes the indoor season February 19-21 for the third straight weekend at the Virginia Beach Sports Center. The Spartans will compete in the 2023 MEAC Women's Indoor Track and Field Championships.
