NORFOLK, Va. – After a successful showing at the Prudential Center in Newark, N.J. for the Invesco QQQ Legacy Classic, Norfolk State men's basketball players have earned multiple awards from an assortment of organizations.

The Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference announced its weekly honors on Tuesday afternoon, naming
Joe Bryant Jr. the MEAC Player of the Week and
Kris Bankston the Defensive Player of the Week. Additionally, BOXTOROW named Bryant the HBCU National Player of the Week.

The recognition comes after Bryant's season-high 29 points led the Spartans to an 83-71 victory over Hampton in this year's second edition of the Battle of the Bay rivalry. He shot 9-of-13 from the field (69.2 percent), 5-of-8 from behind the arc (62.5 percent, a perfect 6-of-6 from the free throw line, while adding five assists and three rebounds.

Bankston cleaned up the glass with a team-best eight rebounds against the Pirates, recording a steal as well. He also protected the rim with discipline, registering two blocks.
