NORFOLK, Va. – Norfolk State sophomore
Aleksandra Evdokimova added another award to her resume on Wednesday, earning MEAC Women's Tennis Player of the Week honors.
The recognition comes after the Spartans played a weekend of stiff competition in Philadelphia and Baltimore, as Evdokimova held her own at the top of the lineup. The Moscow, Russia native went 2-1 at No. 1 singles and 1-2 at No. 1 doubles.
Evdokimova earned the Spartans' lone point of the day against Temple, defeating Jamie Wei in straight sets, 6-3, 6-3. It marked Wei's first singles loss of the season.
The sophomore carried that momentum into Sunday's matchup with Loyola, earning a 7-5 doubles victory alongside teammate
Laura Ruiz. She capped off her day against the Greyhounds with a 6-0, 5-7, 1-0 (10-3) victory against Olivia Tracey.
