| By:
NORFOLK, Va. | The Norfolk State University Spartan softball team takes to the road this weekend for a MEAC Series against the Bears of Morgan State University. The Spartans and Bears will square off in a doubleheader on Saturday with a single game to follow on Sunday.

The Spartans (11-12) head into the weekend series after spiting a midweek doubleheader against the Pirates of Hampton University in the Battle of the Bay. After dropping the first game of the day, 6-3, NSU bounced back to win the next games, 12-10.

Norfolk State leads the all-time series 32-26, dating back to the 1994 season. The Bears have won seven of the past eight contests taking two of the three games last season. The Spartans won game two of the three game series 6-5.

Only two Spartans have started all 23 games so far this season in #11 Jade Dixon (SS) and #26 Imani Moore (CF). Gabby Vaughan (1B), Alison Guckin (LF) and Rylie Gilbreath (C) have appeared in all 23 games with Vaughan starting 22 and the remaining two starting in 21 games each.
