NORFOLK, Va. – After posting a historic performance at the Raleigh Relays last weekend, Norfolk State sophomore
Gidion Sigei has earned MEAC Track Co-Athlete of the Week honors.
Â
The Spartan distance runner shared the recognition with North Carolina Central senior Donnell Carter.
Â
Sigei ran the 10,000 meters in 29:34.41 last weekend, the fastest MEAC time ever in the event and a Norfolk State record. He finished 41
st amongst a loaded field of the nation's top runners.
Â
The MEAC and Norfolk State record had both previously been held by Anteneh Girma, who ran a 30:11.40 at the 2018 Colonial Relays. The top four 10,000-meter times in conference history now belong to the Spartans.
