CARY, N.C. — Norfolk State sophomore Aleksandra Evdokimova was named to the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Women's Tennis First Team on Wednesday evening. The recognition was announced at the conference's awards ceremony at Cary Tennis Park.  

The accolade marks Evdokimova's second All-MEAC honor in two years at Norfolk State, and her first appearance on the first team. Prior to Evdokimova, Paula Fortuno was the last Spartan on the first team. 

The Moscow, Russia native becomes the first Norfolk State women's tennis player since Dajana Cvjetkovic (2017, 2018) to receive All-MEAC honors in multiple seasons.  

Evdokimova has amassed an 11-5 singles record this season, going 10-4 at the No. 1 position. She went 4-2 in MEAC play, including a 4-6, 6-1, 10-6 victory over the 2022 MEAC Player of the Year, Howard sophomore Jordan Grayson. 

The All-MEAC teams were voted on by the league's head coaches and sports information directors.  

Evdokimova and the Spartans open postseason play against Delaware State on Thursday at 11 a.m. at Cary Tennis Park.
