Jones Selected to Speak at NABC, NCAA Coaches Clinics

| By:
NORFOLK, Va. – Norfolk State men's basketball head coach Robert Jones will share his wisdom with aspiring coaches over the next two weekends, earning invitations to speak at several prestigious clinics.

Jones will be one of 15 head coaches speaking at the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Championship Basketball Clinic this weekend, before making an appearance at the 2023 NCAA Basketball Coaches Academy just five days later.

As part of the three-day event, Jones will impart his expertise on Saturday, May 6, for the NABC clinic in Atlanta, Ga. Some of his peers at the esteemed event include Clemson's Brad Brownell, Texas' Vic Schaefer, and Illinois' Brad Underwood.

"The NABC provides great opportunities to further enhance coaches through its instructional clinics," Jones said. "It's an honor to continue to be selected as a part of the NABC coaching clinics. It shows the respect of NSU Basketball on a national scale and that people want to see the 'Spartan Way.'"

The NCAA Basketball Coaches Academy will take place in Indianapolis Ind. from May 10 – May 12, with this year's theme as "The Backboard Basics," focusing each day on a different key fundamental aspect of coaching.

  1. Trusting the "Bricks"
  2. Build your Leadership Playbook
  3. When the Shoe Fits: Navigating the Realm of Higher Coaching

Jones will instruct Thursday afternoon's session titled "The X's and O's." Attendees will have the opportunity to "indulge in a variety of play articulation tactics and analysis" at the clinic.

"I'm excited about presenting at the NCAA Coaching Academy to up-and-coming coaches," Jones said. "Hopefully I can provide some insight to further their respective basketball programs."
