NORFOLK, Va. - Gabrielle Gilbert picked up her third straight Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Rookie of the Week honors announced by the league office announced on Monday afternoon. 

Gilbert tallied a total of 26 kills over the weekend, breaking down to 11 kills in the win against North Carolina Central and 15 against South Carolina State. In the match against NCCU, she tallied 10 digs for her first double-double of the season. The 15 kills Gilbert recorded against the Bulldogs, led all players, while she also posted a season and career-high five aces in the match as well. 

The Indianapolis, Indiana native's hitting percentage for the weekend was sitting at .322 after putting down the 26 kills on 62 attack attempts with six errors in the opening weekend of MEAC action. Additionally, Gilbert served up eight aces, and added 14 digs while contributing 34.0 points for the Spartans over the weekend.

Norfolk State is back in action this weekend as the team splits time away and at home. The Spartans play the Hawks of the University of Maryland Eastern Shore on Friday evening at 6 PM in Princess Anne, MD. NSU returns home on Sunday, Oct. 1, to host the
