NORFOLK, Va. – The Norfolk State football team looks to capitalize on the momentum of a well-earned road win when the Spartans face former MEAC rival North Carolina A&T State on Saturday at William "Dick" Price Stadium.
Â
A dominant rushing attack fueled NSU (2-2) to its second triumph of the season last weekend at Towson, on a rain-soaked day at Johnny Unitas Stadium. The Spartans totaled 350 rushing yards, second-most in the program's Division I history, on the way to a 21-14 victory.
Â
Norfolk State freshman linebacker Michael Rijo picked up Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Rookie of the Week honors for his performance, tallying three tackles for loss and a sack.
Terron Mallory was named HBCU Defensive Player of the Week by the College Football Network (CFN), powering the NSU defense with 8.0 tackles, one forced fumble, and one interception.
Â
North Carolina A&T dropped to 0-3 on the season after falling 27-3 to Elon earlier this month. The Aggies other two losses came against the University of Alabama at Birmingham (35-6) and MEAC opponent (30-16).
Â
Saturday's game will be strived live on ESPN+. Norfolk State will broadcast the game on Hot 91.1 FM (WNSB) with Ross Gordon and Woube Gebre calling the action.
