LYNCHBURG, Va. --- The Norfolk State women's track & field team opened its season at the Liberty Kickoff meet on Thursday and Friday.
Freshman
Kadynce Taylor earned the top finish for the Spartans in her collegiate debut, clocking a second-place finish in the 500 meters (1:15.40).
Senior
Leslie Young took third place in the weight throw (55' 4 ½"). She also placed fourth in the shot put (41' 9 ½").
Freshman
Amira Dailey made her NSU indoor track debut, earning a ninth-place finish (seventh out of collegiate runners) in the mile with a time of 5:53.52.
Freshman
Trinity Lucas made her Spartans' debut in the 500 meters, earning a ninth-place finish (1:23.49).
NSU earned a pair of strong finishes in the 300 meters, including a 10th-place finish from
Kalyncia Taylor (40.34) and an 11th-place finish
Allysia Farrar (40.39).
The Spartans capped off the meet with the 4x400 relay team made up of
Trinity Lucas,
Kailie Borque,
Asiah Wike, and
Zayre Floyd earning a seventh-place finish (3:55.36).
Norfolk State's indoor track season continues this weekend with distance runners competing at the Sharon Volyer-Danville Opener on Saturday, Dec. 7.
