GREENSBORO, N.C. - The Norfolk State bowling team competed in the Stallings Invitational from Feb. 23-25 at North Carolina Central University.
The Spartans competed in Baker total pinfall, five-person team game/match total pinfall, Baker match play formats in the tournament.
On day one the Spartans played in Baker total pinfall format, dominating Florida A&M 844-477, while falling to North Carolina A&T (993-837), Vanderbilt (1,133-849), Mount St. Mary's (840-717), and Lincoln Memorial (900-763).
On day two in the five-person team game/match total pinfall, the Spartans defeated Howard (855-758) and Texas Southern (911-781). The Spartans fell to UAB (957-849), Tulane (904-793), and Jackson State (1,052-797).
On the final day of the tournament, the Spartans won two of their three baker match play games. The defeated Howard, 4-2, and Texas Southern, 4-1. They fell to Belmont Abbey College, 4-1.
Coming up - The Spartans are finished with regular season competition as their next tournament will be the 2024 MEAC Bowling Championships held in Raleigh, N.C. from Mar. 22-24.
