NORFOLK, Va. – Norfolk State men's basketball guard Allen Betrand has been selected to the 2024 HBCU All-Star Game, the event announced this week.

The third annual HBCU All-Star Game will take place at Grand Canyon University in Phoenix, Ariz. on Sunday, Apr. 7 at 4 p.m. ET. The event will be broadcast nationally on CBS.

Betrand will play for "Team Rick Mahorn," featuring some of the strongest competition from HBCUs at both the Division I and Division II level. He will be coached by North Carolina Central head coach LeVelle Moton and Clark University head coach Alfred Jordan.

Betrand becomes the third Spartan men's basketball player to suit up in the quick-rising event. Joe Bryant Jr. and Kris Bankston represented Norfolk State in the 2023 HBCU All-Star Game.

On the way to becoming the first Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Sixth Player of the Year award recipient, Betrand has averaged 11.2 points, 2.9 rebounds, and 1.2 assists per game. He was named to the All-MEAC Third Team, joining teammates Jamarii Thomas and Chris Fields Jr. as MEAC Postseason accolade winners.
