NORFOLK, Va. – The Norfolk State men's track & field team swept the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference's (MEAC) weekly track awards, the conference office announced on Friday afternoon.
Norfolk State graduate student
Kai Cole was named MEAC Men's Track Athlete of the Week, while
Raeshon Smith earned Men's Field Athlete of the Week honors.
The accolades come after a dominant showing by the Spartans at the 2024 NSU Invitational.
Cole won the 100 meters (10.35) and the 200 meters (20.79) on Saturday to continue his stellar closing season. He also contributed to the 4x400 relay team's second-place finish (3:30.52).
Smith produced one of the best outings of his career in front of the NSU crowd last weekend, setting three personal records. He won the hammer throw (155-1), while earning fourth in the shot put (45-1.5), sixth in the javelin throw (122-11), and 11
th in the discus throw (119-2).
Norfolk State continues its outdoor campaign this weekend at the Duke Invitational in Durham, N.C.
