CARY, N.C. – Norfolk State senior
Gabriela Davidescu added a tremendous accolade to her collegiate resume on Wednesday, earning All-MEAC First Team honors.
Davidescu has now earned all-conference recognitions in two difference leagues – she was named to the All-Atlantic 10 First Team in 2021 and the All-Atlantic 10 Second Team in 2022.
The recognition comes after a terrific regular season by the VCU transfer, producing an 11-6 overall singles record, all at the No. 1 singles position. Davidescu went 5-2 in conference play, her only losses coming against South Carolina State and North Carolina Central.
Davidescu was named MEAC Women's Tennis Player of the Week on three occasions this season, earning the accolade on Mar. 1, Mar. 7, and Mar. 28.
The Spartans open the 2024 MEAC Tennis Championships at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Apr. 25 as the No. 6 seed, facing No. 3 seed Howard for a spot in the semfinals.
