NORFOLK, Va. – Norfolk State junior
Tafari Bishop has been named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District team, recognizing the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the track, in the field, and in the classroom.
Bishop enjoyed a breakthrough season in his first year at Norfolk State, after transferring from Iowa Central Community College.
Competing in the 400 meters and 400-meter hurdles, Bishop found his groove during the outdoor season. He placed third in the 400-meter hurdles at the MEAC Outdoor Championships, while leading the 4x400m relay team to a gold medal as well.
Bishop represented Norfolk State at the NCAA East Preliminary Meet, qualifying for the regional event in the 400 meter hurdles and as a part of the 4x400m relay squad.
Academic All-District honorees were considered for advancement to the CSC Academic All-America ballot, with the recipients slated for reveal on July 10.
