NORFOLK, Va. - Norfolk State volleyball head coach
Kathy Bullock announced the signing of former North Carolina Greensboro outside hitter
Mya Wood.
"Mya will make an immediate impact on our program," Coach Bullock said. "Her experience as an attacker as well as a libero will make her presence known immediately. We need fighters and finishers. She's ready to compete and earn her spot on this team and I'm looking forward to being her coach"
A rising senior from Orlando, Fla., Wood showed her versatility on offense and defense after totaling 566 digs, 282.2 points, and 228 kills in her three seasons at UNCG.
Wood led the team in total digs (224) and digs per set (3.25) in 2023, securing a season-high 26 digs against Coppin State on Sept. 1, 2023.Â
In her first season at UNCG in 2022, Wood tallied 218 kills, 222 digs, 266.0 points, along with three double-doubles. She finished second on the team in kills, kill per set (2.12), total points, and points per set (2.58).
During her high school career at Lake Highland Preparatory, Wood landed on the AVCA All-America Watchlist and the AVCA All-Phenom Team in 2021. She led her team to the FHSAA Semi Finals in 2020, whilst being named to the FHSAA All-State Team and Orlando Sentinel All-Area Team.
She led her team to a state championship after posting a 26-2 record in 2019.
