NORFOLK, Va. – Norfolk State head football coach
Michael Vick continues to stack his staff with professionals who competed in the sport at the highest level, adding Tory Woodbury as his special teams coordinator.
Â
Woodbury comes to Norfolk State from a MEAC rival, previously serving as the tight ends coach and special teams coordinator at Howard. Under his leadership, the Bison's special teams unit blocked six field goals, ranking fifth in all of FCS. Howard was also one of just two teams in the MEAC that did not allow a blocked punt the entire season.
Â
Woodbury's coaching journey has included roles at the collegiate and professional levels. He spent multiple years with the Los Angeles Rams, contributing to the team's 2022 victory in Super Bowl XLVI.
Â
A generational quarterback talent at Winston-Salem State, Woodbury enjoyed an illustrious eight-year professional playing career in the NFL. His time within the pro ranks included stints with the New York Jets, New Orleans Saints, and Buffalo Bills.
Â
Woodbury has also made a decades-long impact within the community, founding the Tory Woodbury foundation in 2002 – a charitable organization dedicated to providing school supplies, clothing and meals to underprivileged children in Winston-Salem, N.C.
