NORFOLK, Va. – The Norfolk State volleyball team looks to get back on track in the second weekend of MEAC play, traveling to UMES on Friday at 6 p.m. before returning home to face Delaware State on Sunday at 1 p.m.
Tickets
For the first time in program history, Norfolk State is selling tickets for home volleyball matches, marking another step in the growth of Spartan Athletics.
Tickets cost five dollars, while NSU students receive free admission with a valid university-issued ID. Fans can purchase tickets at
nsuspartantickets.universitytickets.com or by calling the NSU Ticket Office at 757-823-9009.

The Spartans enter the weekend 1-14 overall and 0-2 in the MEAC after opening conference play with losses at Coppin State (3-0) and Morgan State (3-1).
Junior outside hitter
Gabrielle Gilbert leads NSU with 183 kills and a .187 hitting percentage. Senior setter
Sydney McCree has totaled 331 assists. Gilbert (16),
Mya Wood (14),
Mary Nahinu (12) and Brana Ellis (12) have all contributed at the service line.
Wood leads the team in digs with 130, followed by Nahinu (117) and McCree (100).
Ava Berry paces the Spartans at the net with 46 blocks.
Reagan Chisholm (27), Gilbert (23) and
Isis Castille (16) add support.
Record Watch
McCree ranks second all-time at NSU with 2,437 career assists, passing Nicole Kessner (2,424) last weekend. Darcy Moore (2012-15) holds the program record with 3,195. McCree also entered the top 15 in career digs, ranking 14th with 592.
Gilbert moved into fourth place in all-time kills with 888. She trails Kim Mumford (1992-95), who is third with 937. Charlotte Armstead (2009-12) holds the program record with 1,177. Gilbert also ranks fourth in career attacks with 2,285.
About Maryland Eastern Shore
UMES enters Friday's match 5-10 overall and 2-0 in the MEAC after defeating South Carolina State (3-0) and North Carolina Central (3-2) last weekend.
Junior outside hitter Karielys Melendez leads the Hawks with 129 kills. Nkemjika Ikemefuna has added 118, and Lilliana Montes has chipped in 103. Setter Jayda Hutchins directs the offense with 329 assists, while Kate Eden has tallied 168. Melendez (26), Hutchins (18) and Eden (14) lead the team in service aces.
Defensively, Valeria Matias leads UMES with 238 digs, followed by Melendez (118) and Hutchins (88). Montes leads the Hawks at the net with 41 blocks, and Anjela Omolewa follows with 31.
About Delaware State
Delaware State enters the weekend 5-11 overall and 1-1 in the MEAC after falling to North Carolina Central (3-2) and defeating South Carolina State (3-1).
Senior outside hitter Gerren Tomilin leads the Hornets with 174 kills. Junior outside hitter Emma Patmon follows with 120, and Aaliyah Mitchell adds 112. Setter Naz Tuncay paces the offense with 183 assists, while Ailena Mykins has 122. Patmon leads DSU in service aces with 17, followed by Tomilin (13) and Mitchell (11).
Tomilin anchors the defense with 95 digs, followed by Patmon (91) and Landyn Langham (81). Kelsie Dawson leads the Hornets at the net with 34 blocks, while Mitchell and Hannah Sanders each have 33.
