BOONE, N.C. --- The Norfolk State women's basketball team travels to App State on Wednesday for a 12 p.m. matchup on ESPN+. The game marks NSU's final contest of November as the Spartans look to secure their first road win of the 2025-26 season.
INSIDE THE SERIES
Norfolk State and App State will meet for the fourth time in program history. Norfolk State currently leads the all-time series 3-1.
- NSU won the most recent matchup in the 2023-24 season, 67-53, at Echols Hall
- App State recorded its lone win in the 2012-13 season, a 98-91 double-overtime victory
- Wednesday marks the first meeting between the programs in Boone, N.C.
SCOUTING THE MOUNTAINEERS
App State enters the contest 4-2 after a 64-40 win over UNC Asheville. The Mountaineers are 3-1 at home, with their only loss coming against Davidson.
- Senior guard Emma Smith leads App State with 11.7 points and 6.0 rebounds per game.
- Junior guard Daisia Mitchell also adds double-figure scoring numbers, averaging 10.3 points per game
- The Mountaineers average 70.3 points and allow 54.0 points per game
- Head coach Alaura Sharp is in her second season with the program.
SPARTANS LAST TIME OUT
Norfolk State dropped a 57-55 contest to Hampton in the annual Battle of the Bay at Echols Hall.
Jasha Clinton led NSU with 12 points, six assists, five rebounds and four steals.
- The game featured three lead changes and one tie
- Carmen Kweti led NSU in rebounding with 14 boards
- Norfolk State shot 54.4 percent in the third quarter (6-of-11)
- The Pirates outscored the Spartans in the fourth quarter 23-12
- NSU outrebounded HU 41-35
- Hampton won the turnover battle 19-13
SCOUTING THE SPARTANS
Norfolk State enters the matchup 2-5 and continues to search for its first road win under first-year head coach

- Norfolk State graduate guard Jasha Clinton currently ranks second in the nation in steals with 29, while also ranking 10th in stelas per game, averaging 4.14 per contest
- NSU currently leads the MEAC in blocks (27), while ranking second in steals (92). The Spartans also rank second in the conference with 13.14 steals per game
- Three Spartans currently average double-figure scoring, including Clinton (14.4), Anjanae Richardson (10.6), and Da'Brya Clark (10.8)
- Carmen Kweti currently leads NSU on the glass with 7.4 rebounds per game, which currently ranks third in the MEAC
