Spartans Take Close Loss at North Carolina A&T

Box Score GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Norfolk State men's tennis team put up a strong fight against undefeated North Carolina A&T, falling 4-3 on Wednesday afternoon.
 
North Carolina A&T (10-0) took the opening doubles point, ultimately making the difference in the match. Frederick McRae and Igor Kubalka pulled out a tough 7-6 (6) win at the No. 3 position, but not before North Carolina A&T cruised to a pair of 6-1 victories at the top two positions.
 
Kaua Santos gave NCAT a 2-0 lead with a 6-3, 6-1 win over Boris Lunin at the No. 3 position, before Jindrich Brill took down Kubalka 6-2, 6-0 on Court 4. Gorbatenko got the Spartans on the board with a hard-fought 6-4, 6-3 triumph over Lucas Coupu-Moison at the top spot of the lineup.
 
McRae made things interesting, producing a 6-2, 6-0 win at the No. 5 position against Said Akbarov. Ian Pedersen closed out the match for thte Aggies, though, taking down Deniz Okyay 6-1, 4-6, 6-4 at the No. 2 slot. Michele Elia earned the Spartans the final point of the day, defeating Mathieu Dussaubat 1-6, 6-3, 1-0 (4)
 
The Spartans return to action on Friday afternoon against Campbell.
