Box Score NORFOLK, Va. – The Norfolk State baseball team couldn't keep up with Stonehill in a 9-7 loss at Marty L. Miller Field on Saturday afternoon.

Stonehill took control with a three-run first inning, adding another run in the second inning to go ahead 4-0.
Collin Curry cut into the gap with a two-run home run down the right field line shortly after, however.

Stonehill went up 6-2 in the fourth, but
Ryan Hoeft scored his second run of the day by taking advantage of a wild pitch.

Trailing 9-3 in the eighth inning, the Spartans began to heat up at the plate.
Jamal Ritter produced a solo home run in the eighth inning, before
Kydese Queen drove in two more runs with a single to center field.

Justin Journette sent his seventh homer of the season over the left centerfield fence in the ninth, bringing the Spartans within two. The Spartans could not complete the comeback from there, though, dropping the second game of the series.
