Spartans Bounce Back from Slow Start to Defeat Frostburg State 6-1

Box Score NORFOLK, Va. – The Norfolk State men's tennis team got back in the win column with a terrific performance against Frostburg State, earning a 6-1 victory at NSU Tennis Complex on Wednesday afternoon.
 
Frostburg State got off to a strong start, taking the opening doubles point with victories on Courts 1 and 3. Vladisav Gorbatenko and Deniz Okyay earned the Spartans lone doubles win in a 6-4 result at the No. 2 position.
 
Gorbatenko helped start the turnaround with a 7-6 (2), 7-5 triumph over Cole Alcala at the top singles position. Jakub Solarski bested German Diaz 6-2, 7-6 (5) on Court 2, before Okyay pulled out a thrilling three-set 4-6, 6-1, 1-0 (5) victory over Victor Boban at the No. 3 position.
 
Frderick McRae bested Matt Bolen 6-3, 6-0 at the No. 3 slot, as Igor Kubalka defeated Noah Fisher 6-1, 6-2 on Court 5. Luka Cjetkovic closed out the day for the Spartans with a 6-2, 6-2 win over Jason Haley on position six.
