NORFOLK, Va. – Norfolk State freshman Igor Kubalka has earned his second consecutive MEAC Rookie of the Week recognition since making his collegiate debut last week.
 
Kubalka's accolade comes after strong performances in three Norfolk State matches, facing Chowan, North Carolina Central, and Longwood. The Spartans went 1-2 as a team, but Kubalka went 1-2 in singles and 2-1 in doubles.
 
Earning a comfortable 6-3, 6-1 victory at the No. 5 singles position against Chowan, Kubalka added a 6-1 win at the No. 1 doubles slot in that same match. He also contributed to a No. 1 doubles triumph, 6-3, against Longwood.
 
The Spartans return to action on Thursday afternoon, facing Hampton on the road.
