CARY, N.C. – The Norfolk State tennis programs compete in the 2025 MEAC Tennis Championships at Cary Tennis Park this week, entering the postseason with plenty of momentum.

Men's Outlook
The Norfolk State men's tennis team earned the No. 3 seed in the MEAC Tennis Championships, putting together a tremendous turnaround. The Spartans produced a 12-11 record (3-2 MEAC), fueled by a late eight-match win streak.

Norfolk State will take on No. 6 seed Coppin State in the quarterfinal round at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Apr. 24. The winner of Thursday's showdown will face No. 2 seed North Carolina Central at 12 p.m. on Friday, Apr. 25, airing on ESPN+.

The championship match will take place at 12 p.m. on Saturday, Apr. 26 on ESPN+.

Norfolk State cruised past Coppin State (1-17, 0-5) in the lone regular season meeting between the squads, coming away with a 6-1 victory at the MEAC Tennis Roundup. The Eagles only point of the day came on a win by opponent retirement, as the Spartans earned straight-set victories on Courts 2, 3, 4, and 6.
Vladisav Gorbatenko pulled out a three-set triumph on Court 1.

Women's Outlook
The Norfolk State women's tennis team earned the No. 4 seed in the MEAC Tennis Championships, going 11-11 overall with a 3-3 mark in conference play.

The Spartans will take on No. 5 seed Delaware State (5-9, 2-4 MEAC) in the quarterfinal round at 8 a.m. on Thursday, Apr. 24. The winner of Thursday's showdown will face No. 1 seed South Carolina State at 9 a.m. on Friday, Apr. 25, airing on ESPN+.

Norfolk State earned a 5-2 victory over Delaware State in the lone regular season meeting between the squads. The Spartans won the doubles point, before racking up points at the No. 1, 3, 5, and 6 singles positions.

MEAC All-Academic Team
Â
Six Norfolk State tennis players earned All-MEAC Academic Team honors – four on the men's side and two on the women's – announced by the conference on Tuesday afternoon.

MEAC sophomore, junior, and senior student-athletes with a 3.0 or better cumulative grade point average (GPA), as well as transfer student-athletes who have been in residence at the institution for at least one year, are eligible for All-Academic accolades.
