NORFOLK, Va. --- The Norfolk State track and field program will be well represented at the NCAA East Preliminary First Round, qualifying in six events at the regional meet, taking place in Jacksonville, Fla., May 28-30. Â

Vincent Bond Jr.,
Tafari Bishop,
Premier Wynn,
Jayden Gordon,
Kristopher Stephens,
Kendrick Winfield, and
Brooklyn Robinson each qualified for individual events. The 4x400 meter relay team consisting of Bond, Bishop, Winfield, Wynn,
Donovan Terry, and
Lavontay Bond also qualified.
Leading the way in the sprints, Bond Jr. secured the 23rd-best qualifying time in the 400 meters. Teammates Bishop and Wynn also qualified in the 400-meter hurdles with the 24th and 27th seeds, respectively.

Norfolk State also placed two athletes in the triple jump, with Gordon earning the 26th seed and Stephens securing the 36th.

Winfield will compete in the 200 meters, receiving the 36th seed in the event, while the Spartans' 4x400-meter relay team earned the 29th seed.

Robinson will represent the women's program, ranking 12th in the 100-meter hurdles.
Â
Bond will be the first Spartans to take the track on Wednesday, May 28. The 400 meters takes place at 7:25 p.m., followed by Wynn and Bishop's 400-meter hurdles event taking place at 8:20 p.m. Winfield will cap off the first night of competition in the 200 meters at 8:45 p.m.

Robinson will see competition on Thursday, May 29. at 6 p.m. in the 100-meter hurdles.

Gordon and Stephens will see action on Friday, May 30, in the triple jump, taking place at 2:30 p.m.

The 4x400 meter relay team will take the track last on Saturday, May 31, in the final event of the meet scheduled for 8:45 p.m.
