Four Spartan Track & Field Program Members Named to Academic All-District Team

NORFOLK, Va. --- The Norfolk State track and field program landed four members on the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team.

Raphael Kitur and Brian Rotich, and Tafari Bishop represented the men's side, while Allysia Farrar received the recognition on the women's side.

Kitur placed third at the MEAC Cross Country Championships for the Spartans, clocking a time of 23:59.90, while also receiving three MEAC Runner of the Week Accolades throughout the season. He also recorded a top 50 finish at the NCAA Division I Southeast Regional, placing 46th with a time of 31:17.40.

Rotich finished runner up at the MEAC Cross Country Championships, running the 8k course in a personal best time of 23:34.60. He opened the indoor season by breaking the MEAC and the school 5,000-meter record with a time of 14:07.14.

Bishop qualified for the NCAA Outdoor East Regional quarterfinals in the 400 meters, clocking a time of 50.97 to place 20th in the event. He also helped the 4x400 meter relay team take down both the indoor and outdoor school records.

Farrar recorded a second-place finish at the Indoor Division I Pre-Nationals in the 200 meters, clocking a time of 24.40, before helping the 4x400 meter relay team take the silver medal at the MEAC Championships.
