NORFOLK, Va. --- The Norfolk State football team returns to William "Dick" Price Stadium this week to take on Sacred Heart at 4 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 20.
The Spartans (1-2) aim to take down the Pioneers (2-1) for the first time in program history. The two teams met last season, with Sacred Heart picking up a 10-3 win over NSU.
Norfolk State fell to Rutgers last week 60-10 at SHI Stadium in Piscataway, N.J.
Kevon King paced the Spartans' offense with seven carries for 59 yards and a touchdown.
X'Zavion Evans added eight carries for 54 yards. Quarterback
Otto Kuhns completed 8 of 20 passes for 90 yards, while
DreSean Kendrick hauled in three receptions for 48 yards.
Antwan Davis led the defense with nine tackles, including five solo stops.
Kendric Nowling followed with eight tackles, and
Ty Jones and Amir Mataeo each recorded six. The Spartans notched three sacks, as
David Ojiegbe,
Rontravious Perry, and
Dawson Rivers all brought down the Rutgers quarterback.
