NORFOLK, Va. --- The Norfolk State women's volleyball team plays its first home match of the season Tuesday, Sept. 23, when it hosts Hampton in the "Battle of the Bay" at Gill Gymnasium. First serve is set for 6 p.m.

Tickets
For the first time in program history, Norfolk State is selling tickets for home volleyball matches, marking another step in the growth of Spartan Athletics.

Tickets cost five dollars, while NSU students receive free admission with a valid university-issued ID. Fans can purchase tickets at
nsuspartantickets.universitytickets.com or by calling the NSU Ticket Office at 757-823-9009.

About Norfolk State
Norfolk State (0-12) looks to earn its first win of the 2025 season. The Spartans competed hard at The Big Orange Bash last weekend, pushing Georgetown to five sets and taking a set from unbeaten Clemson.

Junior outside hitter
Gabrielle Gilbert leads NSU with 144 kills and a .183 hitting percentage. Senior setter
Sydney McCree has tallied 266 assists, while Gilbert (9),
Mary Nahinu (12) and
Mya Wood (9) provide threats at the service line.

Defensively, McCree leads the team with 87 digs, followed by
Jasmine Mataira (49) and
Paula Sigurani (45). At the net,
Ava Berry has recorded 41 total blocks, with
Reagan Chisholm adding 22.

Record Watch
McCree continues to climb the NSU record book. She ranks third all-time with 2,372 career assists, just 52 shy of Nicole Kessner's 2,424. Darcy Moore (2012-15) holds the program record with 3,195. McCree also needs one more dig to enter the top 15 in program history with 579.

Gilbert moved into fourth place on NSU's all-time kills list this past weekend with 849. She trails Kim Mumford (1992-95), who sits third with 937. Charlotte Armstead (2009-12) owns the program record with 1,177.

About Hampton
Hampton (1-10, 0-2 CAA) dropped a pair of matches to Elon last weekend. Racquel Frazier leads the Pirates with 110 kills, while setter Morgan Warren has dished out 237 assists. Nia Thomas and Lillian Campbell pace the team with eight service aces each.

On defense, Warren tops the team with 69 digs. Frazier (59) and Maria Clara Andrade (58) follow. McNeal has recorded 16 blocks, while Campbell has added 13.

Series History
Hampton currently leads the all-time series against Norfolk State 62-18. NSU won both meetings against HU last season, including a 3-0 victory at Gills Gymnasium and a 3-1 victory at Hampton.
