NORFOLK, Va. — The Norfolk State women's basketball team hits the road to open MEAC conference action on Saturday, Jan. 3, at North Carolina Central.
KEY STORYLINES
- The Spartans head to Durham for their fourth consecutive road contest that began with a trip to Campbell on Dec. 15.
- First-year head coach Jermaine Woods enters the matchup six wins shy of career victory No. 50.
- Graduate guard Jasha Clinton continues to rank among the nation's elite defenders, sitting fourth nationally in total steals (55) and 12th in steals per game (3.67).
- Da'Brya Clark ranks 34th (190), Clinton sits 43rd (187) and Richardson ranks 47th (184) in field goal attempts (179)
- Norfolk State ranks 20th in the nation in steals per game with 13.1 per contest while also ranking 34th in turnovers forced per game at 21.73 and 51st in turnover margin at 5.07

SERIES HISTORY VS. N.C. CENTRAL
- Saturday's matchup marks the 42nd all-time meeting between Norfolk State and N.C. Central.
- Norfolk State leads the series 31-10.
- The series dates back to 1980-81 when NSU won the first encounter 94-82.
- The last NC Central victory came during the 2022-23 season when the Eagles won 73-68 in overtime.
- NSU enters the contest riding a six-game winning streak in the series, including a 96-57 victory on March 3, 2025.
SCOUTING THE EAGLES
- North Carolina Central enters the matchup with a 3–10 overall record after picking up a dominate 111-48 victory over Averett on Dec. 30.

- Aniya Finger (10.5 ppg) ranks second on the team in scoring, as the only other Eagle averaging double figures. She also ranks second with 5.2 rpg.
- As a team, NCCU averages 60.8 points per game while allowing 76.1 points per contest.
